Israeli Propaganda Denies Prisoner Nader Hussein's Suffering and Detention
Amid the recent prisoner exchange between Israel and the Palestinian resistance, pro-Israel propagandists spread false claims about the recently released prisoner Nader Hussein to downplay his suffering and deflect Israel's responsibility for his deteriorating health condition.
Sixth Prisoner Exchange: Israel Releases 369 Palestinian Prisoners
In the sixth prisoner exchange on February 15, Israel released 369 Palestinian prisoners, including 36 serving life sentences and 333 detained without charge, who were released in Gaza.
According to the Palestinian Asra Media Office, most were detained without charges or convictions. This marks the largest release of Palestinian prisoners since the truce began.
Meanwhile, the Palestinian Resistance released three Israeli captives in Gaza.
The Israel Prison Service forced the prisoners to wear outfits featuring a Star of David and the Arabic phrase, “We will not forget or forgive.”
According to the Palestinian Red Crescent, four Palestinians released under the ceasefire deal are in critical condition and have been hospitalized in Ramallah, in the occupied West Bank.
Israeli Propaganda Casts Doubt on Prisoner Nader Hussein's Imprisonment
After Israel released Nader Hussein in critical condition due to starvation and torture, Israeli trolls exploited his videos and photos to deny his imprisonment and suffering.
An X user, known for spreading propaganda, reposted a video of Nader after his release, falsely claiming that his poor health resulted from advanced-stage cancer. He also alleged that Nader had been released multiple times before, attempting to deflect attention from Israel’s mistreatment of Palestinian prisoners.
“This is a Palestinian suffering from advanced stage cancer. Every time Israel releases prisoners, these idiots post his photos. If you believe them, he has been released 6 times already during the past two months,” he wrote.
Another Israeli propagandist account, tracked by Misbar’s team, spread false claims to romanticize Palestinian suffering since October 7.
The user claimed that Nader Hussein’s name was not on the list of prisoners released on February 15 and that he had been freed last week. The account also alleged that Nader suffers from cancer.
Other X accounts echoed the same claims against the freed prisoner.
Nader Hussein Included in Recent List of Released Prisoners
Misbar’s investigative team looked into the recent list of released prisoners published by the Asra Media Office on February 14 and found that Nader Hussein’s name was included.
Nader's name appeared as number 303 on the list of prisoners released in Gaza after being detained following October 7.
The file also notes that Nader is originally from North Gaza, which explains why his name did not appear on the Israeli government website.
Contrary to the trolls' claims, the website only listed 736 Palestinian prisoners from outside the Gaza Strip who were released or set to be released.
Furthermore, pro-Israel publishers falsely claimed that Nader Hussein had been released earlier, misleading the public by linking him with Ibrahim Mohammad Khaleel al-Shaweesh, who had been targeted in an Israeli campaign following his release on February 8.
Misbar’s investigation debunked these biased disinformation pushers against the Palestinian prisoners.
Media Accounts Report on Nader Hussien's Health Condition
Hassan Eslayeh, a Palestinian journalist from Gaza, shared a video of Nader Hussein shortly after he arrived at the Gaza European Hospital in Khan Yunis.
The video displays the severe health deterioration and signs of starvation on his emaciated body.
In the footage, Nader struggled to pronounce his name correctly due to his deteriorating condition.
Al Jazeera also released a video capturing the moment Nader Hussein arrived at the hospital by ambulance.
In addition, Anadolu Agency, citing doctors who treated Nader, reported that his body showed signs of both recent and past torture, resembling “a map of the horrors he endured behind bars.”
Israel Starves Palestinian Prisoners
In a detailed blog, Misbar investigated Israeli claims about the food given to prisoners, noting that these claims were promoted parallel to the release of hundreds of Palestinian prisoners under the ceasefire agreement.
The released prisoners showed signs of severe health deterioration, revealing the harsh practices they faced during their imprisonment, especially the policy of starvation and food deprivation, which severely impacted their physical well-being.
Palestinian prisoners endure various forms of torture and starvation, while Western media continues to show bias toward Israeli-released prisoners, disregarding the voices of Palestinian prisoners.
