Misbar Documents the Targeting of an Emergency Response Point in Shiraz, Southern Iran
On March 5, the U.S. Central Command published a video it said documented Iranian aircraft being targeted while stationed in their hangars. Geolocation analysis indicates that the video was filmed at a military facility attached to Dastgheib Airport in the southern Iranian city of Shiraz.
Despite reporting that strike, U.S. Central Command did not address another attack that occurred on the same day inside the city of Shiraz.
Iranian media reported the additional strike and published photos and videos documenting its aftermath and civilian casualties. According to these reports, an airstrike targeted the town of Zibashahr, located about 13 kilometers from Dastgheib Airport and less than three kilometers north of the city of Shiraz.
Geolocation Confirms Strike on Emergency Shelter in Zibashahr
Geolocation analysis identified the site of the strike at coordinates 29.661688, 52.562897, where visual elements match footage published by the Iranian Students News Agency (ISNA) showing the area after the bombing, as well as images published by the VISTA website citing the Iranian Labour News Agency (ILNA).
Footage shows an entrance bearing a sign reading “Zibashahr Emergency Shelter,” a camp designated for temporary emergency accommodation that includes parking areas and residential cabins. Video published by ISNA also shows extensive destruction in buildings located behind the gate.
Satellite images from the Sentinel-2 system show changes at the coordinates on March 6 compared with imagery captured on February 27, with debris visible at the strike location.
According to visual analysis conducted by Misbar’s team at Al-Araby TV using footage from the strike site published by the Iranian Red Crescent and the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA), the destruction is concentrated in three buildings located behind the camp’s gate, while damage extends to structures facing the site from the west.
Google Maps data indicates that the emergency response building is the first structure located behind the camp’s gate. Video footage and photographs also show a destroyed ambulance a few meters from the emergency point.

Iranian media reported that three emergency medical workers were killed in the strike. Visual evidence and satellite imagery show that the damage is concentrated within the marked area.

Military Base Located Less Than 200 Meters From Targeted Civilian Site
Meanwhile, Misbar's team identified a military base whose walls lie less than 200 meters east of the targeted civilian site, at coordinates 29.663216, 52.566265.
The location has been listed as a military base on OpenStreetMap for more than seven years. Satellite imagery also shows vehicles and armored equipment inside the base, known as Bissat Barracks, which open Iranian data sources indicate belongs to the naval forces of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

As of March 6, satellite images show no signs of damage at the military base. Conflict monitoring databases have also not documented any strike targeting the facility.
Shiraz lies within Iran’s southern belt region, which the United States previously said it targeted with drones and Tomahawk missiles.
This is not the first time U.S. strikes have hit civilian sites while nearby military targets remained untouched. A similar incident previously occurred at the Minab School, where buildings within a civilian services complex for military personnel were bombed while a drone runway near the school was not targeted.
In a previous investigation, Misbar also documented a U.S. strike on a site on the outskirts of Yemen’s capital, Sanaa, in April 2025 in the Thaqban Bani Harith area. Geolocation analysis and satellite imagery showed the location was civilian rather than a military facility, and the strike killed 12 civilians.
