Misbar Tracks 21 Ships Crossing the Strait of Hormuz in 24 Hours
Maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz rebounded noticeably over the weekend, according to data from Marine Traffic, a global ship-tracking platform. A total of 21 vessels were tracked and analyzed between 00:09 on April 4 and 23:44 on April 5.
The data also highlighted a significant presence of sanctioned vessels and shadow fleet ships. On Saturday, two sanctioned ships and three shadow fleet vessels were recorded, followed by five sanctioned ships and two shadow fleet vessels on Sunday. Sanctioned vessels accounted for nearly half of the day’s transits.

The relative rebound in traffic comes amid indications of a partial easing of restrictions Iran had imposed on the strait in recent weeks. Tehran has allowed “non-hostile” vessels to pass, a move intended to regulate navigation without fully closing this vital route.
Reports also indicate that Iran has permitted the passage of ships carrying “essential goods,” aiming to ease international and humanitarian pressures on food and energy supplies.
