Flight-tracking data from FlightRadar24 shows a surge in U.S. military air activity, with more than 20 Air Force cargo aircraft flying to the Middle East on April 18 and 19.

Data reviewed by Misbar indicates the airlift relied primarily on strategic transport aircraft, including the C-17 Globemaster III and the C-5M Super Galaxy. Most flights departed from key U.S. military hubs in Germany, notably Ramstein Air Base and Spangdahlem Air Base, as well as Trier and Bitburg airports.

Misbar also recorded notable movement by flight RCH296, which departed on Saturday, April 18, from Fort Liberty in North Carolina — home to major U.S. airborne and special operations commands. The aircraft landed at Bitburg Airport in Germany before continuing to the Middle East later the same day.

The aircraft concealed their identities and tracking signals before arrival, suggesting a logistical mission to reinforce military bases in the region with fuel, equipment and personnel amid heightened security conditions.

The activity follows Iran’s renewed closure of the Strait of Hormuz to international shipping, which Tehran described as a response to what it called Washington’s breach of commitments and continued maritime restrictions on Iranian ports.

The move coincided with threats by U.S. President Donald Trump to end the temporary ceasefire, reached April 8, if a final agreement is not secured.

In an apparent effort to ease domestic pressure, Tehran partially reopened its eastern airspace to international flights, despite remaining on heightened military alert.

The developments follow stalled talks in Islamabad, as attention turns to the durability of a parallel ceasefire in Lebanon and efforts to revive faltering diplomatic negotiations.
