Satellite Images Reveal Ongoing Israeli Destruction in Southern Lebanon Despite the Ceasefire

Field data and satellite imagery show that destruction operations are continuing in southern Lebanon despite the ceasefire announced on April 16, 2026, for 10 days, before being extended for an additional three weeks starting April 23.

An analysis conducted by Misbar’s team at Alaraby TV of satellite images revealed ongoing destruction in several cities and towns across southern Lebanon, alongside reports of structural demolitions targeting facilities and residential blocks.

The analysis indicates continued Israeli movements that may be understood in the context of establishing a buffer zone in southern Lebanon, which Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said could extend as far as the Litani River, amid the large-scale displacement of residents in the area.

After the ceasefire extension was announced, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated on April 24 that Israeli forces had continued carrying out military operations in southern Lebanon.

An image captured by the Sentinel-2 satellites on April 24 shows signs of destruction in several areas of the town of Khiam that were not visible in an image taken on April 16.

The traces of recent tracks are consistent with indications of an ongoing ground military presence in the town despite the ceasefire and align with filmed reports of structural demolitions of residential buildings that continued through April 25.

In the city of Bint Jbeil, satellite images showed destruction in several parts of the city, along with rising smoke from its center.

A comparison of images taken before and after the ceasefire shows that attacks during this period struck additional areas, particularly on the outskirts of cities and towns.

These developments were preceded by statements from Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz on March 31, in which he spoke about demolishing homes in the border area inside Lebanon.

These developments raise legal questions in light of international laws related to the protection of civilians and civilian infrastructure during armed conflicts.

They reflect the continuation of military operations in southern Lebanon despite the ceasefire agreement, along with the resulting humanitarian and on-the-ground consequences for the region.
