Misbar tracked, through maritime navigation data, the movement of dozens of vessels participating in the “Sumud Flotilla” departing from Marmaris on May 14 toward the coast of the Gaza Strip.

According to Navigation Data: More Than 20 Vessels Heading Toward Gaza

A review of maritime navigation data through MarineTraffic showed that more than 20 vessels departed beginning around 12:00 UTC.

According to a statement issued by the fleet’s organizers on May 13, the “Spring Mission 2026” of the Global Sumud Flotilla, in cooperation with the Freedom Flotilla Coalition, is preparing to dispatch 54 boats carrying around 500 participants from 45 countries.

The Associated Press also reported that more than 50 boats carrying nearly 500 activists departed from Marmaris in a renewed attempt to reach Gaza.

The Flotilla Is Expected to Reach Waters Off Gaza’s Coast on May 18

According to a report by Channel 13, Israel is preparing to deal with the flotilla at sea if it continues advancing toward Gaza.

The channel reported that dozens of vessels departed from Marmaris toward the enclave and that Israeli authorities are monitoring their movement while preparing for the possibility of intercepting them.

Other Israeli media outlets also published security assessments suggesting that fighters from Shayetet 13 could intervene if the flotilla approaches areas Israel prohibits ships from reaching.

Mission to Break the Blockade

The Marmaris flotilla forms part of the “Spring Mission 2026” organized by the Global Sumud Flotilla, a new civilian maritime initiative aimed at breaking the blockade imposed on Gaza and delivering humanitarian and symbolic aid to its residents.

An earlier phase of the mission departed from Barcelona on April 12, 2026, before participating vessels were intercepted by Israeli forces near Crete at the end of April.

Israel intercepted boats from the flotilla in international waters and detained several activists before later deporting some of them.

Following that interception, organizers regrouped part of the flotilla at the Turkish port of Marmaris before announcing the resumption of the voyage toward Gaza on May 14.

According to organizers, the Marmaris wave includes 54 boats and approximately 500 participants from 45 countries, while earlier reports about the Barcelona phase mentioned larger numbers reaching around 70 boats and 1,000 participants.

These movements are part of a series of maritime attempts to break the blockade imposed on the Gaza Strip since 2007.

Humanitarian organizations say conditions in Gaza remain severely deteriorated amid ongoing restrictions on aid entry and the displacement of most of the population within the territory, while Israel says the restrictions are intended to prevent weapons from reaching Hamas.
