Shipping Risks

Before the outbreak of the war, average shipping traffic through the Strait of Hormuz ranged between 125 and 140 voyages per day, while around 20,000 sailors remain stranded inside the Gulf aboard hundreds of ships.

In recent days, shipping traffic has averaged around 10 vessels entering and exiting the strait daily, including cargo ships, chemical tankers and liquefied petroleum gas carriers, while crude oil tankers continue to represent only a small proportion of overall traffic volume, according to a Reuters analysis based on vessel-tracking data.

Around 10 vessels crossed the strait during the past 24 hours, including small cargo ships and a chemical tanker heading into the Gulf, according to data from Kpler and satellite analysis conducted by SynMax specialists.
