Misbar Tracks Three Oil and LNG Tankers Crossing Strait of Hormuz After AIS Signal Gaps
Misbar’s team at Al Araby TV tracked the passage of three massive oil and liquefied natural gas tankers through the Strait of Hormuz and monitored waters in the Gulf of Oman between May 23 and 25, using maritime navigation data from MarineTraffic.
Tracking data showed that the three vessels — the crude oil tanker Eagle Verona and LNG carriers Al Rayyan and Fuwairit — experienced periods of AIS tracking interruption or signal blackout while near or transiting the strait, before reappearing later in the Gulf of Oman or the Arabian Sea on routes toward Asian markets.
The combined LNG capacity of Al Rayyan and Fuwairit reaches approximately 272,933 cubic meters, while Eagle Verona has a deadweight tonnage of 320,122 tons.
Eagle Verona Oil Tanker
Misbar tracked the movement of the very large crude carrier Eagle Verona (IMO: 9597264), built in 2013 and sailing under the Singaporean flag, with a deadweight tonnage of 320,122 tons.
According to tracking data, the tanker departed from the northern Gulf near Iraqi ports en route to Ningbo, China. It appeared off the UAE coast on May 23 at 07:28 GMT before its signal disappeared during the Strait of Hormuz transit.
The tanker’s signal reappeared later that evening at 18:30 GMT after clearing the strait and reaching waters off the Iranian port of Bandar Jask. Another signal gap was recorded on May 24 at 05:15 GMT before the vessel reappeared at 13:05 GMT in the Arabian Sea at coordinates (20.999702 / 65.33709). The tanker is owned and operated by Malaysia’s MISC Group through its subsidiary AET.
Al Rayyan LNG Carrier
Misbar also tracked the LNG carrier Al Rayyan (IMO: 9086734), which sails under the Marshall Islands flag. Built in 1997, the vessel has a capacity of 134,671 cubic meters of liquefied natural gas.
The ship departed Qatar’s Ras Laffan port on May 13 at 13:58 GMT bound for Zhoushan, China. Tracking data shows a prolonged gap in its AIS signal after departure before it reappeared on May 25 at 00:50 GMT sailing in the Gulf of Oman near coordinates (23.733763 / 61.949413).
Ownership and management records indicate that QatarEnergy is the beneficial owner, while Japan’s K Line handles commercial management and Singapore-based PG Shipmanagement oversees technical operations.
Fuwairit LNG Carrier
Misbar additionally tracked the LNG carrier Fuwairit (IMO: 9256200), which sails under the Bahamas flag. Built in 2004, the vessel has a capacity of 138,262 cubic meters of liquefied natural gas.
Tracking data shows the vessel heading toward Port Qasim in Pakistan after departing Ras Laffan. Misbar recorded the tanker performing a limited turn near the entrance of the strait on May 24 at 05:20 GMT before resuming its course and entering a period of AIS signal loss during transit.
The ship’s signal reappeared on May 25 at 00:42 GMT in Gulf of Oman waters near coordinates (24.22555 / 61.407967).
The tanker is owned by MOL LNG Transport Europe and operationally and technically managed by MOL Global Ship Management.
