Misbar Pinpoints Damascus Explosion Sites Near Macron’s Residence

Two explosions rocked the Syrian capital, Damascus, on July 7 as French President Emmanuel Macron was on an official visit to the country, prompting questions about the nature of the incident and where it occurred.

Geolocation Analysis Identifies Sites of Two Damascus Explosions

Misbar’s team reviewed the circulating footage and compared it with satellite imagery to geolocate the two explosions. The analysis showed that both blasts occurred within a limited geographic area in a key district in central Damascus.

Based on visible landmarks in the footage, Misbar's team identified the location of the first explosion at coordinates (33°30'47.52"N 36°17'34.20"E), near the Syrian Ministry of Tourism building and about 170 meters from the residence of French President Emmanuel Macron.

The second explosion was geolocated at coordinates (33°30'48.43"N 36°17'33.97"E), approximately 28 meters from the first blast site, indicating that the two explosive devices were placed within a narrow area.

The close proximity of the two blast sites suggests that the devices were planted within a highly confined area, a pattern that could be intended to create confusion at the scene or target first responders. However, this alone does not establish how the attack was carried out or its ultimate objective.

The geolocation analysis highlights the sensitivity of the area where the explosions occurred, as it is located in a central district that typically has heightened security measures, particularly during high-level official visits.

The location of the two explosions points to a potential security breach that requires further investigation, but it does not, on its own, determine how the incident was carried out or identify those responsible.
