Misbar Tracks 32 U.S. Military Flights Between Europe and the Middle East in 24 Hours

Misbar's team at Al-Araby TV tracked a surge in U.S. military air activity between Europe and the Middle East on Thursday, July 23, amid escalating tensions between the United States and Iran and continued military movements across the region.

An analysis of FlightRadar24 data identified 32 distinct U.S. military flights, based on a review of flight timestamps, aircraft types, and flight paths. The activity included 22 C-17 Globemaster III strategic airlift missions. The aircraft are used to transport personnel, military equipment, and heavy vehicles over long distances. The data also showed eight KC-135R Stratotanker aerial refueling missions, enabling fighter jets and bombers to extend their operational range and remain airborne for longer periods.

The flight paths showed that 19 flights traveled from Europe to the Middle East, while 10 flew from the region to Europe. Two additional flights operated within the Middle East, while another departed Europe, reached the eastern Mediterranean, and then returned.

Ramstein Air Base emerged as the busiest European hub, accounting for 13 of the tracked flights, followed by Spangdahlem Air Base with five. Both bases play a key role in U.S. military aviation and logistics operations across Europe.

Although flight-tracking data does not reveal aircraft payloads or mission objectives, it points to intensive logistical activity involving strategic airlift and aerial refueling aircraft. The surge coincided with another night of U.S. strikes inside Iran and President Donald Trump's threat of further military escalation.

Military Escalation Spreads Across Multiple Fronts

The activity comes amid continued escalation between the United States and Iran, with tensions extending to maritime routes in the Gulf and the Red Sea.

The activity also coincided with attacks that the Houthis claimed to have carried out against Saudi oil tankers, raising concerns that the confrontation could expand into a wider maritime front with potential implications for global shipping and energy supplies.

U.S. President Donald Trump had threatened Iran and the Houthis with “major military punishment” and warned that Iranian infrastructure could be targeted in response to any future attacks on vessels in the Strait of Hormuz.
