Emerging story

Every year on April Fools’ day companies across the world use pranks and fake products as marketing strategies. This year, the language-learning app Duolingo announced that it was launching a version of its courses in the form of toilet paper. “Turn your bathroom into a classroom,” their website stated. “No ads. No interruptions. Never forget a lesson again, because nature is the best push notification.” The rolls present a range of language-learning options, including Spanish for English speakers, English for Japanese speakers, and English for Spanish speakers.
