Boko Haram Video of NAF Jet is Fake

On March 31st, news spread that a Nigerian Airforce Jet had disappeared in Northeast Nigeria. Two pilots were on board who were conducting a routine mission in the Boko Haram stronghold of the Sambisa forest in Borno State. Military authorities announced that search and rescue efforts were underway. 

Two days after the disappearance, a Boko Haram faction claimed responsibility for downing the jet and released a video of a plane being shot down in the sky. The footage showed fighters with RPG and artillery equipment as well as a supposed corpse of one of the pilots on the aircraft. It also showed a plane on the ground with the inscription NAF 475, the same ID for the aircraft that disappeared.
