The Israeli Ambassador In Cyprus Denies News Of His Kidnapping

In the aftermath of the Iranian retaliatory attack on Israel, several fake and misleading news spread. One of the claims that went very viral on social media was that the Israeli ambassador in Cyprus was kidnapped along with two of his companions on the coast.

The claim was attributed to Reuters News Agency and was shared by several media outlets. The Iranian news outlet Mehr News Agency reported on the claim in an article titled, “Israeli ambassador to Cyprus reportedly kidnapped.”

The Egyptian news website, Sada Elbalad English, also shared the claim. The website claimed that Cypriot security agencies have confirmed the abduction of the Israeli ambassador and his two bodyguards.
