Old Photo Features a Top ISIS Recruiter, Not Syrian Caretaker PM Mohammed al-Bashir

After Mohammed al-Bashir's appointment as the caretaker Syrian Prime Minister for the transitional government, social media users widely circulated a photo falsely claiming to show him as a former ISIS fighter.

An X user, notorious for spreading misinformation, shared the photo and alleged, “Muhammad al-Bashir, a former ISIS leader known for his extreme cruelty and as the “slayer of infidels,” is now the right-hand man of Mohamed al-Jowlani and is being considered as the potential future Prime Minister of Syria.”
