Outdated Images Misleadingly Linked to Recent Mass Shooting in South Africa

Following reports of the recent shooting in South Africa, social media users circulated two images, claiming they showed the aftermath of an incident in which gunmen opened fire in Bekkersdal Township, shooting 20 people and killing 15.

One of the circulating photos showed forensic teams inspecting the scene, while the other showed a group of civilians standing at a distance from multiple marked police vehicles.

Others also shared a photo of police officers and yellow police tape, claiming it showed the recent shooting in South Africa.
